Unleashing Creativity after Retirement
Lila Brochá—meaning “purple brush”—is the artistic identity of Maria Victoria Walker, a mixed media artist whose work explores storytelling through color, texture, and layered composition. Her paintings, often whimsical and vibrant, reflect personal memory, emotion, and transformation, offering viewers a visual meditation on nature, movement, and the rhythms of urban life. Each piece invites curiosity and introspection, encouraging connection through pattern, form, and feeling.
Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, Maria Victoria immigrated to the United States in 1989. While building a successful career in both finance and data architecture—and raising a family—she painted in the margins of her day-to-day life, developing her artistic voice as a self-taught creative.
Art Groups
Since retiring in 2021, art has become her full-time pursuit. That same year, she joined SAGE Green Bay and later, in 2022, became a member of the Green Bay Art Colony and joined Wisconsin Visual Artists in 2025. Over the past three years, she has participated in SAGE Green Bay’s Toy Maker’s Fundraiser at the Neville Public Museum. As a member of the Green Bay Art Colony, she has exhibited at their Annual Juried Exhibit at the Neville since 2022

Vicky’s artwork has been displayed at several notable venues, including The Art Garage, Green Bay City Hall, Art Connective, Roberta’s Gallery at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, S.A.G.E. Gallery, Wisconsin Maritime Museum, The Hardy Gallery, John Michael Kohler Art Center and the Neville Public Museum. In 2024, she had a piece accepted for the "Knock First" Exhibit at the John Michael Kohler Art Center in Sheboygan, 63rd Wall-to-Wall Juried Exhibit at the Hardy Gallery in Ephraim, WI, Art As Poetry As Art at Rahr-West Museum in Manitowoc,WI and the last 79th Art Annual Juried Exhibit at the Neville Public Museum.
